Common vocabulary used in Radius applications.

RADIUS

The distance from the center of a circle to the outside of the circle.

DIAMETER

Twice the radius.

SSPAN, CHORD, SPRINGLINE

Term used to describe the distance from the face of the jamb to the face of the jamb.

RISE, CHORD HEIGHT

The distance of the elevation of the arch.

COMPOUND RADIUS

A curved application where there are more than one radius used on the part. EX: Spiral ascending staircase or arch on curved wall.

REVERSE CURVE

When one radius terminates in a part and flows into an opposite radius in the same part.

CONVEX

Horizontal outside radius.

CONCAVE

Horizontal inside radius.

SEG ARCH

Any segment of a circle that is less than a half circle.

HALF CIRCLE ARCH

Exactly half of a circle having a span that is equal to the diameter and a rise equal to the radius.

ELLIPSE

Any radius application that does not follow a true radius, these application can be quoted with major and minor axis information, however require a template for manufacturing purposes.
